Monday, 8th Nov 2010 - Lunch

Today is my "free from cooking" day again!! : )

You must be thinking "if you did not cook, what is the picture about?" Heh heh.. The picture you see was my husband's lunch. I only prepare the rice and heat up the red "thing", my husband has a meeting at 1pm and it was too late to pepare breakfast (as usual, I woke up late) and too early to prepare for a big lunch so I heat up the store-box Indian chicken tikka (also one of my husband's favorites) and he wanted to have it with Kimchi (gee..I cannot imagine the smells made up from these two strong dishes!).

And the snacks before my husband's tennis was disaster.. I wanted to try a new cake recipe but it turned out to taste like "biscotti". I have to throw both the cake and recipe away. 오빠 미안해...

Saturday, 6th Nov 2010 - Dinner

Breakfast - my husband actually prepared himself while I am still in my dreamland.. He heats up the leftover 북엇국 (dried pollack soup) and rice with some kimchi (maybe, I did not ask him) after his early morning tennis with our neighbour.

By the time I finished all my housework, I realized that it already past one week from my last grocery shopping  and most of the ingredients are almost used up so no lunch at home! We went out to Great World City, Singapore for sushi (happens that both of us have the craving for it!) and some simple grocery shopping and DIY shop for a netting to put be placed on our gate to prevent our kittens sneak out of the apartment.

It was already 5.30pm when we reached home. I decided to start on my "netting" project and it went quite well with my husband's help (he usually wont but because I let him buy his "favorite" tennis racquet which cost "only" S$199).

And we have 떡복기 (spicy rice cake) for dinner.

Friday, 5th Nov 2010 - Lunch and Dinner

All right it is time to wake up and get going! Thunder storms and lightening outside and will I get strikes while driving on the highway? I am not going to get myself into trouble on a public holiday (Deepavali). But what to do? I promised my parents that I would drive them there. It did not take too long for us to see the doctor and I managed to get home to prepare lunch for my husband. We had 순두부찌개 (spicy soft tofu stew), 제육볶음 (stir-fried pork) as the main ban-chan, and the other ban-chan I made grilled oyster mushroom, 오이 kimchi, 깍뚜기 kimchi, and kimchi. Enjoy, Obba!

I remember I mentioned before that I needed to prepare lots of food marination after my grocery shopping. Marinating is one of the things I like about Korean food because most of the marinated food can be kept for a longer time so I can use my free time to complete other tasks. The dinner we had was 북엇국 (dried pollack soup), which was my first time making it and it tasted fab! It uses simple ingredients, and Koreans believe that it helps to protect the liver especially after drinking alcohol! As for ban-chan, we had almost the same things as lunch and I served my home-made 오징어젓 (pickled squid), it was my first attempt too. The squids were good except it would have been better if it was less salty.

Thursday, 4th Nov 2010 - No Cooking

As mentioned previously, my husband plays tennis every Thursday evening and we usually will go to his favorite Indonesian restaurant but not today! This early morning I have to pick-up my parents from Clementi to National University Hospital (NUH) for my Dad's eye surgery. Not a major problem, it is a common surgery for elderly - Cataracts. However, it is a stressful trip for me to bring two people that always have disagreement with each other. Anyway, the surgery went smoothly and we have to come back for a review tomorrow early in the morning.. yawn

Wednesday, 3rd Nov 2010 - Full Meals

Today still not feeling too good, I mean my mood. Breakfast was served to my bed - the leftover cupcake and a glass of fresh milk. Life still goes on even you do not feel like it..I dragged my unpleasant mood to the kitchen to prepare lunch. Luckily, I have made 3 ban-chan (Korean side dish) yesterday so I only need to make stew.We had a 100% Korean lunch. Sudubu jjigae (tofu stew), 오이 kimchi (cucumber), marinated raw 오징어 (squid), 깍뚜기 kimchi (raddish) and leftover dubujorim.
By evening, I am feeling much better. I manage to make some other ban-chan for tomorrow and prepare tonight's dinner. Some of the items is a trial run as I need to prepare it for my precious guest who we invited to our home next week.

Tuesday, 2nd Nov 2010 - Breakfast

Today is not a good day for me so we decided to eat out for lunch...(lunch was good we had turtle soup which is my favorite) Anyway, my husband plays tennis every Tuesday evening too so I do not need to prepare dinner. Sometimes I do not understand my husband's taste.. we had one of his favorite bread spread for breakfast which is Marmite. Can you believe it? I always thought it was for children with no appetite so mothers will put some in their food. Anyway, he really enjoy it!

Monday, 1st Nov 2010 - Breakfast, Lunch & Snacks

It is Monday again! In the evening, my husband plays tennis and I have Korean lesson so I do not need to prepare dinner. We had a very simple breakfast, toasts with nutella, peanut butter, kaya and raspberry jam with a cup of black coffee.
As for lunch, I prepared oven-baked kampong chicken with potatoes and vegetables. From the picture,it looks a bit burnt. Actually it was the spices on-top of the skin got burnt.
As I have mentioned that my husband plays tennis every Monday evening, I usually prepare something light for him to eat before he goes for his game. Today I prepared cupcake with banana and roll oats, the cakes taste really great!!

Sunday, 31 Oct 2010 - Full Meals

We had French toasts with Kaya and coffee - a cup of black coffee with a touch of cinnamon for him - for breakfast. It is one of my husband's favorites too!
As for lunch, I prepared Vongole (clams) in White Wine but instead of white wine I used the stock that I made from prawn shells. The dish is a little sweet and it has a different of kind of character. Side dish will be oven-baked fries and I used a sweet potato. We love the natural sweet taste of sweet potatoes! Drinks-wise, we had my mum's home-made ginseng-root herbal tea. Thanks Mum!

After a relaxing swim at the pool and grocery shopping (again), I made a 100% Korean meal except that we had a sauvinon blanc for dinner. Korean-style stir-fried shrimps, dubujorim, leftover deonjang jjigae for soup and kimchi.I was very hungry by the time I finished cooking. 오빠 빨리 드세요, 저녁 먹어요!

Saturday, 30 Oct 2010 - Full Meals

As usual, another busy day... after my grocery shopping I have to "de-vein" & "de-shell" my shrimps and clean the squids then marinate them. Errh.. fishy smell on me... Ok, today we had Ewa's style "big breakfast" for brunch, heh heh.. I woke up late this morning (actually, as usual) and the breakfast is almost perfect except I ran out of bacon (will get some tomorrow).
I prepared seaweed soup, broccoli with oyster sauce, squid bulgogi and kimchi for lunch.
As for dinner, I made Thai basil chicken with rice for Han which is one of his favorite dishes.

Friday, 29 Oct 2010 - Lunch and Dinner

Another busy day for me.. In the morning we brought our kittens, Jaden and Jade to a clinic for check-up and vaccination at East Coast Road, Singapore then Han drove me to the supermarket at Parkway Parade. I spent almost 4 hours running around 4 supermarkets and Selffix store to get everything I need (well, almost everything) and Han picked me up after that. As for lunch, Han had kimchi fried rice which I had prepared for him last night and I cooked ramen for myself.

Finally we can have proper dinner tonight. I prepare deonjang jjigae for soup, fried golden tou gwa with balachan sauce, a zucchini pancake, a fried fish and kimchi. Obba, enjoy!

Thursday, 28 Oct 2010 - No Cooking

Today is a "free from cooking day" for me. We usually go to my husband's favorite Indonesian restaurant - Garuda at Vivo City, Singapore (they have total of 3 branches in Singapore) for lunch once a week and after lunch I visit my parents in Clementi, Singapore and stay until my husband is free to pick me up. As for dinner, Han will have it with his Korean tennis-mate after their tennis lessons.

Wednesday, 27 Oct 2010 - Dinner

Wednesday was a hectic day for both my husband and I. Han had an off-site meeting at 9am which means I have to be ready and drive him to his meeting. The meeting ends at 11am and he has a lunch appointment with one of the SFDC colleagues and I can leave for home to do my weekly house cleaning. By the time I finish my cleaning it is already 7pm and I have to prepare for our dinner with hunger not with love...

Tuesday, 26 October 2010 - Lunch

It is a very simple lunch. I bought the bean curd pockets from Isetan Scotts, Singapore, and put some seaweed flakes, served it with kimchi and yellow radish. I also prepared seaweed soup and bo ri cha. Obba, enjoy! 맛있게 드세요!
